Look at the front cover.
Read the title and ask students to predict what the story might be about. What is the common theme of all the things pictured in the living room of the house? What gadgets, digital devices do you have in your house? Read what the mouse is saying in the speech bubble on the front cover. What is a parody? (Click here to learn about a parody) Show children the book, Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown. Compare the front cover of the two books. What's the same? What's different? (The illustration; the text, colours etc) How has the author, Ann Droyd, copied or imitated the cover of Goodnight Moon? What is she trying to say?
