Before you read . . .
You may recall in the book you have been reading in class, Swashbuckler, that several books about real heroes/villains are mentioned. Robin Hood and The Count of Monte Cristo were two of them. Last week we read the story, Meet Ned Kelly. Ned Kelly's story sparks an interesting conversation about whether Ned Kelly is a real hero or whether he is a criminal who should not be treated as an Australian legend.
This next story, The Count of Monte Cristo is a fictional tale based on true events a long time ago. It is another story where we have to decide whether the actions of the main character are to be commended or whether his actions are criminal. You decide whether he acted properly or not . . . . . |
Reading . . .
As you come to the library over the next couple of weeks you will be reading, The Count of Monte Cristo.
Stop and discuss as you read to examine the characters and whether their actions are justifiable, especially if they are wrongful ones.
